Rolpa team submits memo to Province 5 Chief Minister

Rolpa, Dec 6

A deputation of Rolpa district has submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister of Province 5, Shanker Pokhrel, protesting over the shifting of some government offices from the district to another place.
The memorandum states that important government offices providing services to the people in the district for long have been moved to another district.
The delegation led by the District Coordination Committee (DCC), Rolpa chief Raj Bahadur Budha submitted the memo to the Chief Minister on Wednesday. The delegation comprised people’s representatives, political party representatives, civil organizations and journalists.
“It is very regrettable that the government offices are being transferred to other districts one after another,” the memorandum states. It is also stated that although an all-sides group from the district on June 17, 2018 handed over a similar memorandum to the Prime Minister through the Chief District Officer, it was not heard.
The memo states that the Urban Development and Building Construction Division Office, the Sahid Marga Road Project Office, the District Technical Office, the District Soil Conservation Office and the Water Supply and Sanitation Sub-division Office have been moved to another district neglecting the demand of the district people.
It further states that the latest shifting of even the District Health Office from the district by a decision of the Ministry of Social Development on November 18 has made the people of the district much concerned.
Expressing ‘serious objection’ to the shifting of some half dozens of offices that had been providing service since long from the district to another district under pressure from people who have access to power and without consulting with the people and their representatives, the memorandum calls for the prompt reinstatement of these offices.
