President Bhandari to confer awards on 343 personalities on New Year

Kathmandu, April 12:
President Bidya Devi Bhandari is scheduled to confer various medals, awards, decoration and honours on 343 in recognition of their contributions to the country on the New Year i.e. Baisakh 1.
According to a press statement released by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) today, the awards and decorations would be conferred on them as per the decisions of the Council of Ministers.
Likewise, the Decoration Committee has recommended the Council of Ministers to confer on various Nepali citizen and civil servants various kinds of decorations and honours.
A person will be presented with the Nepal Ratna, the highest civilian award, while four persons receive the Maha Ujjwal Rastadeep, one the Suprasidda Prabal Jana Sewa Shree, two the Ujjawal Kirtimaya Rastadeep and three the Sukirtimaya Rastadeep.
Similarly, 96 persons will be honoured with Suprabal Jana Sewa Shree, one with Kirtimaya Rasta Deep, 161 Prabal Jana Sewa Shree, 74 with Jana Sewa Shree, 87 with Alankar, according to the press statement.
A Decoration Recommendation Committee was formed under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defense Ishwor Pokharel.
The Committee had Minister for Home Affairs Ram Bahadur Thapa, Prof Dr Meena Baidya, Prof Dr Indrajit Rai, Harihar Sharma, Kasendra Prasad Yadav, Major General Binod Kumar Shrestha and Secretary at Home Ministry, Prem Kumar Rai, to recommend the rightful candidates for various decorations, awards and honours.
