Four die from dengue and scrub typhus in Chitwan

Chitwan, September 3

Four persons have died from dengue and scrub typhus so far in Chitwan district.

Three died while undergoing treatment at Chitwan Medical College and one at Old Medical College. Vector Controller at the District Health Office, Chitwan, Ram KC, said that a 28-year-old girl of Gaindakot died from scrub typhus while 71-year-old elderly person of Gaindakot, and 34-year-old man from Rautahat district died from dengue disease while receiving treatment at Chitwan medical College.

KC further said that a 16-year-old girl of Shukranagar died from the infection of both dengue and scrub typhus diseases. The infection of both diseases is increasing in the district. Out of 1,908 people, who underwent dengue tests at different hospital in the district from the beginning of the current fiscal year, 623 people were found infected with dengue.

Of them, 414 are from Bharatpur metropolitan city alone. KC further said that collecting details of the people suffering from scrub typhus was underway and most of the hospitals are found filled with the people suffering from dengue and scrub typhus following increase of such infection.
