Kathmandu, July 4(RSS): Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa 'Badal' has pledged to address the demands of agitating Dr Govinda KC and Gangamaya Adhikari trough democratic procedures.
Taking his time in a special hour of the House of Representatives meeting today to reply issues raised by some lawmakers, the Home Minister vowed to address their demands through a democratic way.
Claiming that the government has not violated the rights of Dr KC, the Home Minister went on to say that his alienable rights had been guaranteed.
He made it clear that most sensitive areas and areas for emergency purposes should not be chosen for any sorts of protest. "Democracy has not guaranteed the rights to organise a programme of protest and stage a sit-in in every place."
According to him, the government has no objection to the issues raised by Dr KC and his demands will be addressed in a democratic manner. The government is preparing to bring a bill to address cases of special nature.
Home Minister said, "We give due respect to Dr KC's voice, we will seek the resolution to the issue in a democratic manner, nobody is above the law and I urged Dr KC to take into consideration the democratic values."
Stating that the government has moved ahead by forging a consensus on the issues relating to the insurgency, he expressed his doubt that the Gangamaya's was being exaggerated to create political stir.
Home Minister Thapa asserted that the State would seek resolution to such issues, arguing that the State should pay special attention to several people like Gangamaya rather than Gangamaya alone.
He extended best wishes to Gangamaya and Dr Govinda KC for their recovery.
Minister Thapa was of the view that the culprits of construction business and foreign employment should not be spared and a stern action should be taken against them.
Stating that the decision to provide immediate relief to the disaster-hit people across the country was in the process of implementation, he shared that more than 20 people lost their lives due to landslide and flood in various 18 districts.
